About The Event:
Now is your exclusive chance to explore a COVID-19 research laboratory! Scientist, Dr. Sara Suliman and her team will take you on a guided tour of the lab itself, demonstrate how to put on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and run an experiment right before your eyes. Since the early days of the pandemic, our Mass General Brigham (MGB) researchers have dedicated much of their time to the MGB Center for COVID Innovation (MGB CCI). It was launched in 2020 to help coordinate, facilitate, and rapidly develop diagnostic innovations that will help stop the spread of SARS-CoV2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, among patients, front line health care workers, and the community. The lab you will be interacting with at the Cambridge Science Festival evaluates potential COVID-19 diagnostic technologies that help to consistently and accurately test whether someone is positive or negative for COVID-19.

Event is hosted by the Brigham Research Institute and MGB CCI Diagnostic Pillar. The event will be recorded and live captioned.

About the
Festival

Cambridge Science Festival, the first of its kind in the United States, is a madcap celebration of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). A multifaceted, multicultural event, the Festival makes science accessible, interactive, and fun, highlighting the impact of STEAM in all our lives.

For the 2021 Festival, we will host a month-long celebration of STEAM in our community with an overarching theme of gratitude and appreciation. During the month of April 2021, we will showcase creative digital and virtual entries from our rich STEAM community.
