ABOUT THE ORGANIZER

The mission of SCFG is to foster excitement, confidence, and literacy in science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM) for girls from underrepresented communities by providing
free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women mentors in
STEM. SCFG reduces barriers to access and improves girls' attitudes toward STEM; increases
girls’ academic confidence through engaging, hands-on curriculum; and bolsters adolescent
girls’ resilience through programs that support their social and emotional development and
strengthen their network of caring adults. Through its interactive STEM learning and mentoring,
SCFG exposes girls from populations underrepresented in STEM academic programs and
careers to role models and opportunities in STEM.
