The Impact of Emerging Technologies on the Fashion Value Chain

A presentation by Michael Ferraro, Executive Director of the Design and Technology Lab (DTech) at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, Amy Sperber, assistant professor, FIT Fashion Design+3D Specialist and Haley Schwartz, FIT student, Fashion Design.

Recent developments ranging from 3D Fashion Design to the advent of the Metaverse have impacted the entire fashion value chain.  We present a case study that starts with the identification of a market need – through design iterations – where an adaptive apparel collection is presented in an AR exhibition. This integrated 3D design process opens up new possibilities for creative production; better serving the consumer and reducing waste in the development and marketing of fashion apparel in the Metaverse
