WOW STEM: Explore a World of Women in STEM

Join us for a hands-on science demo and interactive worksheets that highlight the contributions of some amazing women+ in STEM!

Have you heard of buoyancy? It’s literally what floats your boat… and your balloon, and Dr. Lloyd’s saccharometer. What makes foods sweet? Visit the WOW STEM booth to learn how Dr. Rachel Lloyd used buoyancy to measure the sugar concentrations of beets!

We are A World of Women in STEM (or WOW STEM for short). We make videos, write posts, and come up with fun activities that are focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and the women+ who have been part of these fields throughout history. By celebrating them, we hope that you get inspired and excited about STEM, and maybe learn something new along the way.

There’s a whole wide world of science, math, and technology out there, and women+ are– and have always been– an essential part of it. If you’re here to learn about cool women+ scientists from across history, or here to dive deeper into a passion for physics or botany or math, or just here out of curiosity, you’re in the right place. At our event, we’ll have worksheets and a hands-on interactive activity that tie into the science that women+ have been part of.
