Shifting the Climate Culture
Shifting the Climate Culture
Rare
Rare

DESCRIPTION

Rare’s interactive exhibits are 5 impressive, mobile booths that travel around Greater Boston to engage a variety of audiences. So far, they have appeared at the Peabody Essex Museum, Savor the Square in Roxbury, Boston GreenFest, the South Boston Street Fest, the Boston Marathon Expo, and Brandeis University. In 2023 alone, they have garnered over 2 million impressions both in person and digitally.

Americans want to take action to prevent climate change. But can individuals really make a difference? Rare’s research shows that shifting your personal behavior can meaningfully reduce emissions, save you money and improve your health. Rare’s #ClimateCulture Pop-Up Exhibits highlight the most impactful actions you can take and why making these changes is easier than you think. By sharing your commitment, you can help shift social norms – the unwritten rules of what is acceptable within a society or culture – paving the way for the wide-spread change we need to stop climate change. Visitors can explore and interact with the exhibit to learn more about how Bostonians are shifting the climate culture.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZER

Rare inspires change so people and nature thrive. We are the leading behavior change organization in the conservation world. For over 45 years and across 60 countries, Rare has local leaders, motivated individuals and their communities adopt behaviors that benefit both people and nature. Our first U.S.-based program, Climate Culture, works through 4 distinct channels (community, entertainment, social media, and employers) to encourage 10% more Americans to adopt high-impact, climate-positive behaviors such as eating less beef, signing up for community solar, and electrifying personal transportation. Piloting our community work in Boston, we are partnering with trusted institutions, organizations, and activists to apply behavioral science to climate action.

The Innovation Trail is thrilled and honored to bring together over a dozen of the most trailblazing entrepreneurs and innovators to emerge from the Boston/Cambridge area. The Innovation Trail is gathering these luminaries to take a historic photo that we want Cambridge Science Festival school-age participants to be a part of! School-age participants will have a chance to have their photo taken with our group of innovators at the Urban Park (UP) Roof Garden located in Kendall Square (325 Main St, Cambridge). This will be the first time these extraordinary pioneers will be in the same place, at the same time, and back in the place where it all started for them. Come be a part of innovation history! We’ll have a professional photographer there, but you’re also welcome to take your own photos.
