MoMath is North America’s premier cultural institution devoted to the wonders of mathematics, as well as Manhattan’s only hands-on science center. It is a place where children can go to get excited about math, and where visitors of all ages can experience the evolving, creative, aesthetic, and often surprising nature of math. MoMath was founded with the mission of changing public perceptions of math and illustrating its beauty, creativity, and open-endedness. Through dynamic exhibits and wide-ranging public programs, MoMath illuminates the wonder of math, reveals its aesthetic nature, and highlights its many applications to the world around us. More broadly, MoMath strives to enhance public understanding of math, to foster positive attitudes toward it, and to stimulate interest in math-related concepts and endeavors.

Located in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron district, the Museum’s 19,000-square-foot space is home to more than 40 hands-on, engaging exhibits that showcase the fascinating world of math. In addition to regular exhibits, MoMath has hosted thousands of programs – many featuring world-renowned mathematicians and artists. These exhibits and programs have made MoMath a destination for New Yorkers of all ages, as well as for national and international tourists. Nearly 1.3 million people have visited the Museum, including more than 280,000 students. MoMath’s online programming, started in response to the pandemic, has reached more than 135,000 people in 122 countries.

MoMath received the bronze 2013 MUSE Award for Education and Outreach from the American Alliance of Museums, and it was named the Best Museum for Kids by New York Magazine (2013) and the Most Fascinating Museum in New York State Worth Traveling For by TripAdvisor (2015). In addition, the Museum was awarded the 2016 Communications Award for Public Outreach by the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics, as well as the 2018 Partnership Award from the Flatiron Business Improvement District.
