SHOWCASE

Blowing in the Wind: virtual solar balloon flights on the forecast winds

About:
Imagine traveling around the world in a craft lifted only by the heat of the sun and carried by the winds. No fossil fuel!

How do solar balloons work? How can you make them?

Will the winds carry you where you want to go? If you hitch a (simulated) ride on today’s winds and the 16 day prediction, can you get from a far-away spot you’d like to visit back to MIT in Cambridge?

Explore, learn, and travel the world through this interactive website!

Every Saturday you can meet members of the MIT EAPS team and learn more about this showcase content live! Check out the calendar and register for a Saturday session.
